We did it! Despite only managing a losing draw against Sheffield United York CC are once again Yorkshire League champions!
We went into the final weekend of fixtures with a five-point cushion after winning our appeal over the verdict to the abandonement of the match with the Yorkshire Academy.
Although we could only manage 139-9 chasing a target of 189 against United, news reached us before the finish that the Academy had toppled nearest rivals Castleford.
Marcus Wood made sure we didn't end on a defeat, while last-man Nigel Durham hit a crucial boundary to get us a point.
However, the celebrations had already started and the boys enjoyed a long night of partying after a long, but successful, season.
AND THERE'S EVEN MORE GOOD NEWS...
...because the thirds have also been crowned champions!
A comprehensive win over Civil Service on Saturday saw 'Jones' boys' clinch the Division 4B title in the York & District Senior League.
Kev Mendham and Carl Blundell cracked half centuries to help us post 240-6 before Graham Mackfall claimed 5-10 to skittle out the opponents for 72.
